As the flagship of Samsung’s newly created NV series of cameras, it makes sense that the NV7 OPS is the company’s first camera to include CCD-shift optical image stabilization–Samsung calls it Optical Picture Stabilization–which should come in handy, considering the camera’s 7X optical zoom lens. The Samsung NV7 OPS is also one of two NV cameras that includes a new control system that Samsung calls Smart Touch. Rows of touch-sensitive buttons line the right and bottom sides of the camera’s 2.5-inch, 230,000-pixel LCD screen. As you pass your finger over them, various controls appear on the screen. You can select them by pressing the appropriate button, which may activate a whole new set of control possibilities for a submenu, if applicable. The system has the potential to deliver a lot of options quickly and easily, though we won’t know for sure until we get a testable unit. The Samsung NV7 OPS also includes a top ISO of 1,000 and video recording at as high as 640×480 resolution at 30fps.
