At least Kodak spared us the insane Pentax / Canon / Fujifilm camera rush we had the other week and just calmly released the new Easyshare Z1012 IS at the Photo Marketing Association show.
It’s a 10 megapixel camera with 12 x optical zoom, true HD image capture, optical image stabilisation, face detection and high ISO equivalents up to 3200. There are also five colour modes and multiple scene modes, not to mention advanced settings to control aperture and shutter priority and a fully manual mode. The click to capture mode is being touted by Kodak as "best in class"; by capturing an image in 0.23 seconds, you can nail an action shot at high speed. Plus you can do a little editing on the camera itself, constructing a slideshow with background music and transitions directly on the device.
It’ll be available in the UK from May 2008 at around £199.99.
