The Fuji Finepix A820 is designed for easy automatic photography and provides a simplified new graphic user interface with built-in help functions. It offers 16 automatic scene modes, including an underwater mode for use when the camera is enclosed in Fuji’s WP-FXA800 waterproof housing. The 8.3-megapixel A820 uses Fuji’s Super CCD HR sensor type, and features a 115,000-pixel, 2.5-inch LCD screen and dual SD/xD-Picture Card media slots. Although its video mode is underwhelming, it offers integrated IrSimple connectivity for wirelessly transmitting images to other IrSimple-compatible devices, such as printers, PDAs, and printing kiosks.

The FinePix A820 features a new, intuitive icon-based Graphic User Interface (GUI). When users switch shooting modes, scene positions or control settings, a brief explanation of the setting is momentarily displayed on the LCD screen, taking much of the guess work out of digital camera operation. Additionally, both cameras feature a conveniently placed mode dial that provides easy access to the most commonly used shooting modes, including Auto, Picture Stabilization and Movie mode and allows 1-touch access to other pre-programmed scene modes.

The Fujifilm FinePix A820 is equipped with 4X zoom to sport an eight-Mega Pixel Super CCD Sensor. The FinePix A820 incorporates light sensitivities of up to ISO 800 at full resolution. Borrowing a page from Fujifilm’s more advanced camera models, the FinePix A820 shoots at higher light sensitivities with less noise than comparative models. This results higher quality “natural light†photos and less blur in images as the Fujifilm A820 matches these higher light sensitivities with faster shutter speeds.

The Fujifilm FinePix A820 is based around an eight megapixel SuperCCD HR imager with a maximum resolution of 3,296 x 2,472 pixels. Fuji’s SuperCCD HR sensors use an octagonal array of photodiodes that increases image resolution in the horizontal and vertical planes - where the maximum detail in pictures should be found.
