Alongside its announcement of the FinePix Z200fd as covered in a separate news item, the Japanese imaging company has also unveiled one new model for its FinePix A-series.The Fujifilm FinePix A850 has only been announced in Asian and European markets at this time, with no mention of plans for the North American market. The specifications point towards an affordable entry-level pricepoint, although no indication of planned pricing has yet been made by the company. Images are captured via a 1/2.5" CCD image sensor with 8.1 effective megapixel resolution, placed behind a Fujinon-branded 3x optical zoom lens that offers a rather tight 36mm-equivalent wide angle through to a 108mm telephoto. There’s 24MB of internal memory as well as an SD / MMC card slot to cater for storage, and power comes from two AA batteries with alkalines in the product bundle. Other features include a 2.5" LCD with ~154,000 dot resolution, ISO sensitivities from 100 to 800, NTSC / PAL video and USB computer connectivity, and thirteen scene modes to keep things approachable while still giving a degree of control over the look of images.
Fujifilm’s FinePix A850 is set to ship in the UK this July.
