Usually when you shop for a digital camera you get everything digital, including the gauges. Not all that surprising really. What if your digital camera used some analog components? That sounds a bit like an oxymoron, but that is exactly what Samsung has done on its TL9 camera.
The Samsung TL9 digital camera is a small point-and-shoot with 10-megapixels of resolution. It also features Dual Image Stabilization. All pretty common stuff. Where things get different and go analog is in a pair of gauges atop the camera. The dual analog gauges show battery life and the amount of storage left in the memory is a very gas gauge-like fashion. It adds an interesting flair to a fairly cheap camera retailing for about $280. The camera also features a 2.7-inch LCD and has a 5x internal optical zoom. The TL9 has MP3 and PMP capabilities as well. Smile Shot is also featured to activate the shutter when a framed subject smiles. The small camera measures 3.74″ x 2.36″ x 0.84″.

TL34HD
Boasting an impressive resolution of 14.7 megapixels and renowned Schneider lens yielding a 28mm wide-angle focal length with 3.6x optical zoom, the TL34HD promises sharp, clear and detailed images with every shot. The most advanced point-and-shoot digital camera in Samsung’s history, the TL34HD builds upon the success of its predecessor, the NV24HD, with the ability to capture high-definition video at a resolution of 720P along with Dual Image Stabilization.
Featuring an all-metal build, the TL34HD is pocket-sized with dimensions of 3.68” x 2.34” x 0.80”. Available in all-black, or silver with a red accent adding to the camera’s elegance, the TL34HD takes camera design to a new level. Although compact, a large three inch touch-screen hVGA LCD dominates the back of the camera and is sure to turn heads no matter where the TL34HD may be used.
The TL34HD also pioneers Samsung’s next generation Smart Touch 2.0 user interface, which further simplifies the way users navigate through the camera’s comprehensive feature set. By incorporating touch-screen technology, users can now select and control various camera functions by interacting with the TL34HD’s large three-inch touch screen LCD. Not only does this enhance the experience for the shooter and the operation of the Smart Touch interface, but it also provides for a much sleeker and attractive design.

Samsung’s NV20 may have taken on a slightly different look compared to most of its competitors, but the feature set is still mighty impressive on paper. For those who’ve been on the fence, PhotographyBLOG managed to spend some quality time with the shooter, but reviewers didn’t exactly fall in love. It was stated that the new sensor in the NV20 actually "made the image quality worse [than that of the NV10]," and while one may have hoped for big changes, this one "didn’t improve on the previous generation of NV cameras." The actual interface, however, was given loads of praise, but as we all know, it’s the results that really matter. In the end, the device was awarded 3.5 out of 5 stars, but it was unfortunately dubbed a shining example of "style over substance."
