Nikon launches the Coolpix S51 and S51c digital cameras. Both cameras team 8.1 megapixel of resolution and a spacious 3.0″ LCD monitor with a new digital image processing engine and the optics of the built-in “right-angle lens shift” Vibration Reduction 3x optical zoom Nikkor lens. Pentacon announces the Praktica DCZ 7.2 digital camera featuring a 7.2 Megapixel CCD image sensor, a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.4 inch (115 000 pixels), TFT color monitor. Furthermore, the camera offers Face Tracking technology, PictBridge support, 16MB of built-in memory, an SD Card slot for external storage, and video sequences with VGA (640 x 480) resolution at 24 frames per second. The new Praktica DCZ 7.2, dressed in shining red, will be available in September for a street price of about 110 Euro.

Ricoh keeps on keepin’ on with another bump in specs for their R-series shooters. The R7 takes the R6 into 8.1 megapixel territory while maintaining the 7.1x wide zoom lens while tossing in their new Smooth Engine III image processing which should help quiet the noise at higher ISOs. Available in silver, black, and orange next month for a tax price of £230 in the UK.

Pentax has a couple of new digital cameras today, check it: the Z10 features an 8 megapixel CCD (up to ISO 2100), 7x zoom, and 52MB of internal memory. The S10 has a 10 megapixel CCD with up to 3x zoom, 22MB internal memory, and can shoot DivX MPEG-4 videos. Both share digital anti-shake, 2.5-inch LCDs, facial recognition, SDHC compatibility, $250 price tags, and September release dates.
