Canon Digital IXUS 850 IS Review

canon_ixus850_frontback.jpg

The Canon SD800 IS Digital ELPH features a compact, stylish case with rounded horizontal edges, and a retracting lens to make it pocket-friendly. The Canon SD800IS includes a 7.1 megapixel imager, and a Canon-branded 3.8x optical zoom lens covers an optimized range of 28-105mm equivalent, a good wide-angle to moderate telephoto.

With Canon’s new Face Detection AF/AE technology (working in concert with Canon’s 9-point Autofocus system), the Canon IXUS 850IS can detect, lock on and track up to nine human faces in a scene simply by pressing the shutter button halfway. The face detection algorithm automatically prioritizes and selects the optimum subject and not simply the closest face (based on Canon’s Intelligent Scene Analysis/iSAPS technology). It will then optimize the focus and exposure to ensure the best possible results for easy picture taking moments.

  • Panasonic Lumix DMC L1 Review

    11272006112444.jpg

    The 7.5 megapixel Lumix DMC-L1 is Panasonic’s first digital SLR The camera uses a Four Thirds lens mount, as seen on Olympus’ digital SLRs. The 7.5 megapixel Live MOS sensor that is used in the L1 has also been seen on the Olympus E-330. Like the Olympus, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1 has a “Live View” mode that allows image preview on the LCD and the Supersonic Wave Filter dust-reduction system. The L1 also ships with a very nice Leica lens (Leica D Vario Elmarit 14-50mm/f2.8-3.5).

    The super-sharp Leica lens helps explain why the Lumix’s resolution test scores in our lab place it slightly ahead of the 8.2MP Canon EOS 30D in sharpness and help it achieve an Excellent resolution rating. The low power consumption of the sensor also helps the L1 achieve a CIPA battery life rating of more than 400 shots with its rechargeable Li-ion battery.

    The DMC-L1 can offer features such as a full-time Live View function through the large 2.5” high-resolution LCD, which offers a shooting style different from conventional digital SLRs that have only an optical viewfinder. The full-time Live View is made possible by the new Live MOS sensor, developed using Panasonic’s original Maicovicon technology.

    Features

    7.5-megapixel: The Panasonic Lumix® DMC-L1 digital SLR camera delivers stunning pictures with 7.5-megapixel resolution. You can create brilliant 4″ x 6″ photos or blow images up as large as posters with clarity.

    Canon PowerShot A710 IS Review

    m-ext-1.jpgm-ext-2.jpg

    The elegant A710 IS is fully equipped to help busy families capture and hold onto special memories. You’ll get up on the stage and down on the field with a powerful 6x optical zoom, and Canon’s Image Stabilizer Technology will keep your images clear and sharp at every point in the zoom - even in low light. Excellent 7.1 megapixel resolution, easy high-tech operability and a load of creative shooting modes will keep the fun - and great images - coming.

    The Canon PowerShot A710 IS couples a 7 megapixel CCD imager sensor with an image stabilized 6x optical zoom lens that offers a 35mm-equivalent focal range of 35 to 210mm — a moderate wide angle to a useful telephoto. With a total range of 6x optical zoom, this is quite a bit more than most compact cameras offer, and the inclusion of a stabilizer should help ensure photos aren’t blurred from camera shake at the telephoto end of the zoom. Maximum apertures vary from f/2.8 to f/4.8 across the zoom range. The A710’s sensor yields an ISO range equivalent to 80 to 800, while shutter speeds from 1/2000 to 15 seconds are possible.

    Canon PowerShot A710 Features

    * 7.1 Megapixels
    * 6x optical zoom with optical Image Stabilizer
    (35-210mm equiv.)
    * DIGIC II, iSAPS, 9-Point AiAF, FlexiZone AF/AE

    optical viewfinder
    * 20 shooting modes

    Canon PowerShot G7 Review

    3800-1.jpg

    3800-2.jpg
    3800-2.jpg

    The Canon PowerShot G7 has 10 megapixels on its 1/1.8-inch CCD, up from the G6’s 7.1 megapixel resolution. The G7’s image sensor has iSAPS technology and is paired with a freshly updated Digic III image processor. The new processor comes with face recognition and noise reduction technology, allowing the camera to track up to nine faces at a time and offer manual ISO sensitivities of 80-1600. Canon’s proprietary Digic processor was released on digital cameras in 2002 and is now on its third generation four years later. The new processor not only adds trendy technology, but continues to raise the bar on standard processes such as speed and efficiency. The G7 starts up and takes its first shot in about 1.5 seconds, which still isn’t as fast as a DSLR but is better than most compact cameras’ times. Its burst shoots 2 frames per second for 6-8 shots, which is decent for a 10-megapixel model. The processor doesn’t seem to have lost any of its accuracy when it comes to colors. The Canon G7, which uses sRGB color space, appears to have great colors. When the images were magnified in the playback mode, noise was hardly evident which is a good sign. Pictures looked sharp and crisp too. Part of that is because of the Canon 6x lens that has an SR coating to reduce chromatic aberrations and ghosting. This coating isn’t included on any other Canon products yet except for their top-of-the-line professional-grade camcorder

    Canon PowerShot G7 Features

    * 10.0 Megapixels
    * 6x optical zoom lens with optical Image Stabilizer and SR coating
    * DIGIC III and iSAPS with Advanced Noise Reduction and Face Detection AF/AE
    * 2.5” high-resolution LCD with wide viewing angle and anti-glare coating
    * ISO 1600 for flash-free, low light shooting
    * Ergonomic design with dedicated ISO and Multi Control dials for fast, easy operation
    * 25 shooting modes including full manual control and 2 custom settings
    * Extra telephoto reach with Digital Tele-Converter and Safety Zoom
    * Hot shoe support for Canon Speedlite flashes and optional lens accessories

    Sealife Reefmaster DC500 Underwater Camera Review

    B000A8PNLS-01-_SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V40410170_.jpg

    The DC500 Underwater Digital Camera is an exceptional addition to Sealife. As it boasts power, with techincal excellence. With the DC500 you have no excuse of missing a great shot ever again.The DC500 is all combined Land and Sea water sport dive camera, which gives you more control and power in any situation.

    The allegedly innovative Sea Life DC500 is a lightweight underwater camera good to depths of 200ft. Time Magazine has named the Sea Life DC500 one of its “most innovative inventions of 2005,” but we can’t see what all the fuss is about. While the DC500 has reduced the bulkiness and awkwardness of traditional underwater cameras, it doesn’t seem like a tremendous leap forward for underwater photography. Its 5 megapixel sensor and 3x optical zoom are decent enough, but this camera seems more the product of clever marketing than real innovation.

    Features:
    * 12x Zoom (3 x Optical / 4 x Digital)
    * 2.0” Colour LTPS Screen
    * Quickshot Mode with No Shutter Delay
    * 30 frames per second. MPEG 4 video mode with sound
    * USB 2.0
    * Pictbridge
    * 16mb built in memory (SD Card Compatible)
    * Lithium Rechargeable Battery
